5 Seconds of Summer stopped through St. Louis on a surprisingly cool summer night on their world tour for their most recent album, Everyone’s a Star!.
Haiden Henderson was the first act up for the night followed by The Band Camino, who were excited to be back at a venue as large as the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater again. They started their 35-minute set with “Baggy Jeans,” a song off of their new album NeverAlways (Vol. 2) and ended with their most-streamed song, “See Through.”
Then 5 Seconds of Summer took the stage to the sound of thousands of screaming voices. The show was performed in several humorous acts that included videos telling us about the band’s journey to becoming the best boy band in the world. They included personalized jokes for St. Louis, telling us that they spent their day doing St. Louis activities such as freeing all of the animals from the zoo, and the crowd laughed especially hard at their spoof of the AMC Theaters ad with Nicole Kidman.
Energy was high from the start with dance-inducing “NOT OK,” and it remained high throughout the night, as nearly every song played was something to jump, dance, and head-bang to. The weather turned drizzly for those on the lawn, but the dancing continued on unhindered. 5SOS only slowed it down for songs like “Amnesia,” where they played an acoustic version to the swaying lights of everyone’s phones.
St. Louis was treated to “Babylon” as the fan-voted secret song, lots of amusing banter between the band members, and songs across all fifteen years of 5SOS history! Closing with their hit “Youngblood” sent everyone home still singing even after the lights had turned off.
Catch 5 Seconds of Summer in the US before they take the tour to South America and beyond!
