South Korean indie rock band Wave to Earth kicked off their world tour on the West Coast, starting with stops in Vancouver and Seattle before hitting the Bay Area. With vocals led by Daniel Kim and instruments played by Dong Q and John Cha, the chemistry that has been built since middle school was apparent on stage. The performance was set on a stage decorated into a living room with a couch, lamps, and even windows and curtains. Behind the curtains were visuals that would display San Francisco landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge on a sunny day.
The performance began at around 8:15-8:20. The group kicked off the setlist with a handful of songs off their new album, bad pieces. Starting off with “talking ’bout u,” they began with low lighting and a slow flow. As they got through “everything comes and goes” and “sing it all again,” the lights got brighter and brighter. The crowd erupted when the instruments for “cherry flavoured love inside your heart” began playing.
The band showed their gratitude towards the Bay Area. John Cha said, “3 years ago, when I first performed in San Francisco, I was like, WOW, these people are really singing our songs!” With gratitude-filled hearts, one of their final songs was an exclusive performance of “homesick.” Finishing the show, a performance of “love” followed and they left the stage as they thanked all the fans.
