I scream. You Scream…We ALL SCREAM!
The lure of the siren came to the Pageant this weekend as Sleeping With Sirens took the stage on their An Ending in Itself Tour rolled through St. Louis. The crowd was early…and excited. Lines stretched for blocks to get in and generations of fans came to the show; parents passing their love for the band to kids fully embracing their metalcore roots.
First up was Shyeye. Hailing from Nashville, TN, this post-hardcore band fronted by Destiny Keller had the job of getting the quickly growing crowd moving early, and that…they did, and with gusto. Through 7 songs, there was audible chatter and movement as the crowd began stirring, throwing their arms up.
Rain City Drive inherited that brewing cauldron of energy and added their own Floridian take on post-hardcore to the mix. A full set of near a dozen songs had the crowd ready to spill over the barricade to get to the band. Crowdsurfing had started, and we weren’t going to look back.
By the time SwS got on stage, the crowd was at capacity. It was standing room only on the first and second floor as Kellin took the stage. “Kick Me” ignited the crowd and it was past the point of a return. There was headbanging at the barricade, crowdsurfing in the pit, and even on a cool night, it was hot enough inside to keep things bubbling. 16 fantastic songs covering Sleeping With Sirens’s career brought everyone through their own musical journey. Ending on “If You Can’t Hang,” the night was brought to a crashing close, everyone spent.
The tour has many more dates ahead, so get out and see this addictive energy. Get out and witness this crowd. Get out. SEE THIS TOUR!
